Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the NianNian Alarm app and website (together, the "App"), provided by Douglas (Hangzhou) Technology Co., Ltd. ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. The App

NianNian Alarm is an alarm clock that speaks to you. It turns a greeting, the time, the day of the week and your own message into speech, and can also play recordings you make yourself. Alarms, messages and recordings are created and stored on your device.

2. Free version

The free version includes:

• one talking alarm, which can announce a greeting, the time, the day of the week and your message, or play your own recording;
• two message alarms, which read your message aloud with the default voice (without greeting, time, day or recordings);
• up to three saved recordings.

3. NianNian Pro

NianNian Pro is a one-time, non-renewing in-app purchase. It is not a subscription and is never charged again. Pro unlocks:

• unlimited talking alarms, message alarms and recordings;
• all voices available on your device, with adjustable speech rate and pitch;
• a greeting, time and day announcement before your own recording;
• snooze lengths from 5 to 30 minutes;
• the math wake-up challenge;
• Pro features of the same kind that we add to the App in later versions.

What Pro does not include. Pro covers the App features listed above. It does not include paid services or products that we offer separately, now or in the future, such as additional voice packs or content, personalised or cloud-based services, physical products or other add-ons. Any such service or product will be clearly described, priced and purchased separately, and is not unlocked by Pro.

4. Platforms, family sharing and restoring purchases

Purchases on iPhone are processed by Apple and charged to your Apple ID. Purchases on Android are processed by Google Play and charged to your Google account. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies.

• No cross-platform transfer. A purchase made on iOS cannot be used on Android, and a purchase made on Android cannot be used on iOS. We do not operate user accounts, so we cannot move purchases between platforms.
• Family sharing. Where the store supports it, Pro can be shared with family on the same operating system only, limited to six devices in total (Apple Family Sharing on iOS; Google Play Family Library on Android, where available for this product).
• Restore. Use "Restore purchases" in the App to unlock Pro again on a new device of the same platform, or after reinstalling, while signed in with the same store account.

5. Supported systems

NianNian Alarm is fully supported on iOS 26 or later and Android 12 or later.

• On iOS 17 and iOS 18, the App runs but can only use notifications for alarms: they are silenced by the silent switch, do not show full screen on the Lock Screen, and play once for up to 30 seconds.
• On Android 9 to Android 11, the App runs but some features may be limited or behave differently, depending on the device manufacturer.
• Earlier system versions are not supported, and the App may not install or run.

Some features also depend on your device, such as the voices installed and the permissions you grant.

6. Alarm reliability

We work hard to make alarms ring on time, but the App depends on your device and operating system. Alarms may not ring if the device is turned off, its battery runs out, permissions for alarms, notifications or exact alarms are turned off, battery optimisation stops the App, the App is deleted, or the operating system restricts it. Do not rely on the App as the only alarm for medication, travel, safety or other important events.

7. Your content

Messages, alarms and recordings you create belong to you and are stored on your device. You are responsible for what you record. Do not record other people without their permission, and do not use the App to create content that is unlawful, harmful or infringes the rights of others.

8. Acceptable use and licence

You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell the App, interfere with its normal operation, or use it in breach of applicable law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App on devices that you own or control, in accordance with these Terms and the terms of the store you downloaded it from.

9. Intellectual property

The App, its design, text, graphics, mascot and code are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Synthesized speech is produced by the voices built into your device and is subject to the terms of their provider.

10. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The App is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, including missed appointments, arising from the use of or inability to use the App. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded.

11. Changes and termination

We may update the App and these Terms from time to time and will show the effective date of the latest version in the App and on our website. If you keep using the App after an update, you accept the updated Terms. You can stop using the App at any time by deleting it.

12. App stores

These Terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google. Apple and Google are not responsible for the App or its content and have no obligation to provide maintenance or support. Where you downloaded the App from Apple's App Store, Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them.
